Lucid Dreaming

One of the things that has made me feel different through the course of my life is the fact that many of my dreams are what are considered: lucid dreams. These are dreams where you know that you are in a dream state, and then begin to change, alter, or interact with the dream.

It is my belief that the large amount of time sleeping should not be spent drifting aimlessly in the sea of thoughts. Should we not use this time to seek truth? Consider this:

2 Cor 12:2-4
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows— was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell.

This is clearly lucid dreaming or astral projection. (Astral projection being out-of-body type phenomenon.) Both, I believe are tools that get misused by some groups, but ultimately should be used in the worship of YHWH and the revelation to mankind. Should fools and false prophets be the only qualified individuals to teach these things? Or is it the people of the Covenant who should be leaders in the spirit and meta-physical world? Here is another example:

Acts 10:9-10
About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.

This trance, in Hebrew and Greek, is an altered state, not a normal nap. The Creator of heaven and earth uses many avenues and methods to teach and reach his people. Most believers are scared of dreams and astral projection. I personally believe because we dream, our dreams must serve YHWH also.

I must say that this ties into my post on the sleeping prophet Edgar Cayce. All of his insight came while in a trance or sleep. What power do our dreams hold? How about Enoch? After reading the books of Enoch, one walks away with a understanding that he was involved in higher forms of worship and communion with the Almighty then most care to realize. Tapping into areas of awareness and new information seem available to all through our dreams.

My conclusion is that true seekers should use every available resource to gain more awareness and a higher level of consciousness. I do not see this as a violation of the Torah, "Love Adonai your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." (D'varim 6:5)

  1. Hey there Brian.153!!!! Shaloam....just wanted to let you know, I did as promised. I prayed, my husband has prayed and G-d has spoken. We finally "get it"! We have left the "full gospel" churches behind. Tired of the "Bless me, Bless me" attitude and prosperity doctrines coming over the pulpits everywhere, we sought out peace and truth at a Messianic Synagog. We are now learning to submit to G-d in a whole new way. Fortunately, for us, He does not shove everything at us at once because I'm not sure I could handle it!!! :) But we have been able to see and receive truth in regards to Shabbat being only the 7th day. While we still believe one can Worship G-d any day of the week, and should all of them, He has set aside and sactified only one of those.....that being the 7th day.
While there are things I still do not understand, I am in full cofindence that G-d has me underwing and will lead me into more truth as I am able to comprehend and understand it. At least my husband and I now feel we are in a place where we can learn about truth from the Torah and New Testement (sorry, not used to the Hebrew title for that one yet!). No more being made to feel guilty for not having "enough faith" for G-d to heal me from my spinal cord injury. No more wondering if my tithe is actually going for a good cause other than lining someone's pockets and bank accounts. No more striving to be "good enough" for G-d to hear me and afraid I've not been faithful enough. It is such a peaceful rest from where we have been. We know we are right smack in the middle of His will for us and are looking forward to new knowledge from His Holy Word. I intend to research you out, my friend, as there are some things here I'm not too sure about. But that is for another day and hour. Since we are judged against that knowledge we have been able to understand and receive I have no doubt that if He brings us to it, He will see us through it! His love is too great not to give to those who seek to find Him and His perfect will in their lives. Brauch HaShem, dlouise70

  2. Greetings,
Wow, I'm so glad to hear about you finding your Hebrew Roots. It's good to talk to a level headed person. Most of the conspiracy sites are full of emotional responses, you were different. I tried not to attack you but to explain my position by encouraging a sister in the Torah.

If I may ask-What are you not sure about? I would like to have the chance to address your concerns directly. I don't know it all, but I have walked down this path to the point of no-return. I will only point you to the Scriptures that have made me see, as well as, any information I could get to you.
Listen, If you would have met me four years ago: I was calling people like me "conspiracy nuts". So I decided to prove them wrong. Well the "nuts" ended up being more correct then most sunday preachers I grew up listening to. I had to let go of most of what I was taught as a Christian. Most of it is flat out New Age style Paganism.

I woke up. Sounds like things are changing for you too.

    Baruch HaShem YHWH

  3. I am, to be quite honest with you, a very private person. Having no love or need to see my name in print, I'd rather speak with you privately through emails if that would be OK with you. My first Post to you was done only because this was the only way in which I knew to find you again. I have LOTS of questions and would like nothing better than to pick your brain, Brian.153!!
I do not consider myself especially articulate to the point that what I may have to say would be of much importance. But, I will agree to post this to you and then come back in to make points about your topic Lucid Dreaming.

  4. What I am not sure about, in regards to Lucid Dreaming here, is that one shoud seek this out as an experience with the L-RD. I've not read any of the writings of Enoch enough to make comment about him in particular. However, there is no evidence to even suggest that Peter or Paul, nor any of the Old Testament prophets actually sought out this form of experience. Rather, G-D moved upon all of them as He so chose to and always to reveal something about a particular matter. Be it prophecies, interpretations of dreams for others, or to reveal a truth as in showing Peter that he was no longer to consider "unclean" the Gentiles for receiving the Gospel. The Word makes clear that it was NOT to reveal that Peter was now to aquire a taste for bacon!! While I jest here, I do not make lightly of G-D's revealed Word nor mean any disrespect.
It is my belief that in the Torah we are specifically told NOT to seek after things in relms we do not belong (i.e. divination of spirits, seeking contact with the dead, psychic readings etc....etc.)and to do such would bring curses upon the one practicing this. We are even told that when satan attemted to argue over the body of Moses, the arch angel Michael simply rebuked him. He did not give in to conversation or arguement with the evil one.
When one seeks out an out-of-body experience, does he or she not open themself up to the possibility of influences from demonic spirits? Why would one want to do such a thing? I personally do not think we should purposely ever put ourselves into such a position spiritually. I would think that doing so would go directly against the command to "guard our hearts". It's kind of hard to guard one's heart if purposely opened up to demonic influences isn't it?

  5. I enjoy your honesty dlouise.
I would enjoy talking further. Most believers won't have anything to do with the stuff I talk about...but it's all over the scripture! If lucid dreaming is evil then I am open to the correction. That is why I post my thoughts for a record of my journey. I have not reached my destination yet, I only say that I'm on the path of Truth.

About dreaming. YHWH is the creator, all that is comes from Him. The fact is that we dream, we all agree. There are only two options then. One, to dream any old thing you want: never paying attention, never remembering, not focusing on anything; and two, taking steps to use the talent not waste it. (By remembering and/or focusing your dreams.)

I simply ask the question which option is being a better steward?

I feel the end time battle is brewing, we will need all of our time and ability to be successful.
